Last Monday we held our initial investor's meeting at the store. Both Pittsboro residents, and individuals from as far away as Pinehurst, got an opportunity to meet with the owners and discuss the improvements we are hoping to bring to the store in the near future. If you have visited us in the last few months, you may have experienced some considerable waiting times during our most busy hours. By making these capital investments we hope to improve the speed by which we can serve everyone (and making both staff and customers happier). Over the past several months the store has grown very fast and has nearly tripled its sales volume, but we are now at a stage where some additional investments are necessary to ensure the long term viability and stability of our beloved store. If have questions about investing in the store, please feel free to contact us at General Store Caf? Space Available for Rent on Sundays Want to have a party, retreat, or business meeting, but don?t have the space? Currently the General Store Caf? is available to rent on certain Sundays. The money will be used to trim the tree, which it badly needs, as the top of the tree is dead. Dead branches and tree rot will be removed. This old and grand tree, which has graced the center of Pittsboro for so many decades, could be one of the oldest Holly Trees in the nation. With community support and assistance, we hope to be able to save this tree. For years its root system has been smothered by asphalt, struggling to provide the water and nutrients that its branches need to live. That struggle has not been successful; the top of the tree is dead. With your continued support and financial assistance, we will be able to begin phase two: removal of the asphalt that smothers the roots of the tree. The General Store Caf? is planning a meeting on Monday, August 11, to gather interest, support and raise awareness of our town?s oldest Holly tree. Donations to save our oldest Holly Tree are being accepted by the General Store Cafe. Please send donations for the Holly Tree to "Holly Tree Rescue" c/o General Store Caf?, PO BOX 1651, Pittsboro, NC " Let every tree lover, every forester, every lumberman rally?to fight for the preservation of our biggest tree specimens."
